Managed WordPress Mode Could Have Prevented Panama Papers Leak?

The Panama Papers leak is being called the largest confidential leak in history by some, and it’s embarrassing many, with already at least one head of state resigning because of it.

As Nerds, we might be a bit more interested in how this happened, and how we can prevent our clients from being attacked in a similar fashion.  An in depth analysis by WordFence shows that ‘Mossack Fonseca (MF), the Panamanian law firm at the center of the so called Panama Papers Breach may have been breached via a vulnerable version of Revolution Slider’, which is a popular plugin in WordPress.  The ‘Revolution Slider’ plugin is included in many of our clients websites as well, and as you read the article you’ll begin to realize just how easy it is to attack WordPress websites that are not properly patched.

Don’t allow your clients to have unprotected WordPress websites.  Turn on Managed WordPress mode for your clients – it’s free!  Just log into IAAN, pull down the inventory menu, select ‘Online Services Inventory’, find your client’s website and click the slider.
